Disconnect a source

What disconnecting stops, how long the reviews you collected are kept, how reconnecting works, and when deleting the history is the better call.

Disconnecting is deliberately quiet: it stops us reading a source and changes nothing on the review site itself. It is also not free of consequences, so read the second half of this page first.

How to disconnect

  1. Open Sources and find the source.
  2. Open the menu on its card.
  3. Choose Disconnect, then confirm.

The card leaves Sources and a notice confirms it.

What stops

  • Reviews stop arriving from that moment. Nothing new is collected.
  • Its rules stop firing on it and its agents stop answering on it.
  • Its reviews in the feed lose the post button, because there is no access behind them any more.

What stays

  • On the site, everything you already did stays done. A reply you posted stays posted. Disconnecting is not an undo.
  • Here, the reviews you collected are kept for 30 days. Reconnect the same source inside that window and the history is kept for good. After 30 days it is deleted.
  • Rules, agents, saved replies and team access that referenced it are not deleted by the act of disconnecting.

Reconnecting, and the gap

Reconnecting is 1 sign-in on the site. What does not always come back is the time in between: reviews written while the source was disconnected may never be collected.

So a disconnect of an hour costs little. A disconnect of a month can cost a month of reviews. If you are troubleshooting, use Refresh access before you reach for Disconnect.

Delete the history instead

Delete source and history, in the same menu, removes the source and everything that came from it now, rather than in 30 days: every review, reply, report figure and insight from it. You type the source's name to confirm, because reconnecting cannot bring any of it back. Use it when a client relationship ends and you have agreed to delete their data.

When disconnecting is the right call

  • The Page is not yours any more, or the client relationship has ended.
  • You want to stop all activity on a source immediately, including automation.
  • The same source was connected twice by 2 people.

If you want to keep collecting reviews but stop automation from replying on them, do not disconnect. Turn off Automated replies on the card instead. See Pause automated replies for a source. Collecting is free, and keeping it running means the record stays complete.

What this costs

Nothing. Disconnecting, reconnecting and deleting are free.
