Sign in and social login

Email and password, Continue with Google, Microsoft or Facebook, and what a social sign-in does and does not connect.

Last updated October 14, 2026

There are 2 ways into ReviewComet: an email address with a password, or a sign-in with Google, Microsoft or Facebook. Both land you in the same account.

Signing in with email

Enter the address you signed up with and your password, then press Sign in.

If either one is wrong, the message names both rather than telling you which half failed. That is deliberate: whether an address has an account here is not something an anonymous visitor gets to find out by guessing.

Continue with Google, Microsoft or Facebook

The 3 buttons above the form each take you to that provider, where you approve the sign-in, and bring you back signed in. We never see the password you type there.

On ReviewComet's own site all 3 are offered. On an agency's own address the way in is an email address and a password, and there is nothing to switch on.

A social sign-in that finds no account creates one, so signing up and signing in with Google are 1 flow rather than 2. If the provider confirms your email address and it matches an account that already exists, you land in that account.

Microsoft is the one exception worth knowing about. Microsoft does not guarantee the address on a work account unless the directory it belongs to has been verified by its owner, so where that confirmation is missing we will not attach the sign-in to an existing account. Sign in with your password instead.

What a social sign-in does not do

Continue with Facebook is not the same as connecting a Facebook Page. It signs you into this app and nothing else: no Page is connected, no reviews arrive, and no permission to reply is granted by it.

Connecting a Page is a separate approval you give in Sources, with its own permission list. You can sign in with Facebook and connect no Pages at all, or sign in with Google and connect 5 Facebook Pages. The two are unrelated.

The same goes the other way. Signing in with Google gives us your name and email address for the account, and no access to your Google account beyond that.

Staying signed in

A sign-in lasts 24 hours without activity in the browser you used, and the clock is extended while you keep working, so a working day never interrupts you. Come back after a day away and you sign in again.

Signing in on a second browser or a second device does not end the first one. Both stay live until they expire or somebody signs them out.

When you cannot get in

  • Wrong password. After several failed attempts in a row we slow the next ones down. See Passwords and lockouts.
  • A social sign-in that failed. You come back to the sign-in screen with a line at the top saying what went wrong. Trying again is usually enough, since most of these are an approval that was canceled or a session that timed out at the provider.
  • The address is not the one on the account. Work addresses and personal addresses look interchangeable and are not. Try the other one before assuming the account is gone.
  • Access was removed. If your account was suspended or someone took your access away, the sign-in itself fails. Ask whoever administers the location, or write to support@reviewcomet.com.
